ISLAMABAD: President Pervez Musharraf has said
that he would not take any steps that would
derail the democratic process and he would continue
to carry out his responsibilities as per constitution.
He expressed these views while talking to former
UK High Commissioner to Pakistan Mark Lyall
Grant who paid him a visit at the Presidential
Camp office in Rawalpindi.
According to sources President said that Pakistan
views its relation with UK as of utmost important
and bilateral ties between the two countries
should be further consolidated.
With respect to the current political situation
President said that it is the government’s
right to table the impeachment movement however
he would defend all his action and would apprise
the nation of true facts.
President Pervez Musharraf said that he is not
afraid of being impeached as he has always done
what was in the best of interest for the country.
Cooperation between UK and Pakistan with respect
to war on terror was also discussed.
Speaking on the occasion Mark Lyall Grant said
that UK would enhance cooperation with the democratic
