LAHORE: Three persons were killed as heavy
downpour broken 28-year record with 168 mm rainfall
in Lahore. The rain lashed provincial metropolis
on second consecutive day on Tuesday inundating
low lying areas and turning thoroughfares into
rivulets even in some posh localities.
The cloud burst started at about 10.30 am and
torrential rain continued for over two hours
followed by drizzling which continued till 4,00
pm with met office forecasting more rain during
next 24 hours .
Local met office recorded 168 mm rain at the
airport and 32 mm in the city.
The most affected areas included Data Nagar,Sandah,Dev
Samaj road, Chungi Amer Sadhu,Main Bazar Ferozepur
road, Kot Lakhpat,Nisbat Road,Ichra, Shah Kamal,Garhi
Shahu,Wasanpura, Purani Anarkali Mozang, Waris
road, some areas of Allama Iqbal Town,Wahdat
Colony,Misri Shah,New Chauburji, Baghanpura
and Mughalpura
Water entered into houses in some areas including
various localities along Wahdat road while breach
in left bank of SatuKatla drain ,near Model
Town Q-Blaock lead to inundation of various
localities including Pindi Rajaputan, Mohalah
Salamat Pura and areas along Sandar road. Some
areas in posh localities including round about
in Shah Jamal, Main Boulevard Gulberg at Liberty
and Husain Chowk also presented look of stream.—Agencies
