Trade
between Pakistan and the US to be further strengthened:

LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Finance and
Planning and Development Tanvir Ashraf Kaira
has said that Pakistan and US have good bilateral
and trade relations which would be further strengthened
in future.
He was talking to a nine-member US delegation
headed by Assistant Secretary of States for
Economic Affairs, Mr. Denial Sullivam which
called on him here Tuesday. Chairman Planning
and Development, Sami Saeed, Secretaries Finance,
P&D and Irrigation departments and other
concerned officers also attended the meeting.
He said that the law and order situation in
Pakistan has been improved and Punjab Government
is providing all facilities and incentives to
foreign investors to invest in the province
especially in energy and agricultural sectors.
Kaira said that US investors should avail the
opportunity and focus on energy and agricultural
sectors. He said that Punjab is very keen to
take modern technology from US for increasing
per acre yield.
Denial Sullivam said “Pakistan is the
key ally of US in war against terrorism and
we appreciated its role for combating extremism.”
He said that US investors are very keen to invest
in energy as well as other sectors like information
technology, livestock and agricultural and the
trade.
“There is vast scope of US investors in
Pakistan especially in Punjab and we will continue
to cooperate with Pakistan in each and every
sector,” he added.
The minister also briefed the delegation about
the steps taken by the present government for
the facilities being given to foreign as well
as local investors.—Agency
