of bonded labor and their solution" organized by Society
for the Protection of the Rights of Children (SPARC) at

said that the PPP government is representing the poor and
working class of society and is committed to protect their
basic rights. She said that the PPP government has invited
proposals from all stakeholders for bringing amendments
in the Sindh Tenancy Act 1950 and bonded labor abolition
Act of 1992. She said that it was her personal opinion that
the sentence to the accused in the above laws be increased
from 2 years imprisonment to five years and the fine from
Rs 50,000 to Rs 500,000 with provision of non bail-able
warrants against the offenders. She stressed upon the NGOs,
civil society and opinion leaders of the society to forward
their suggestions, if any in this regard. The Advisor also
criticized the performance of District Nazims, who being
head of the vigilance committees against bonded labor have
done nothing to eradicate bonded labor. She said that the
Sindh Government intends to establish a vigilance net against
bonded labor up to the union council level. She recommended
that an anti-bonded cell be established in worst affected
areas of the province including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Badin,
