Political uncertainty termed telltale sign of martial law


JACOBABAD: Speakers of a seminar on ‘First 100 days of democratic government and surging unemployment, inflation and lawlessness’ have expressed their dissatisfaction over the 100-day performance of government and said that said that in these days the prices of daily-use items had increase 100 per cent.
The seminar was addressed by president APDM Sindh chapter and JI Sindh Amir Assadullah Bhutto, Provincial Vice President of Tehrik Insaf Haji Azizullah Birohi, JI provincial leader Abdul Hafiz Bajarani, District President PPP-Shaheed Bhutto Nadim Qureshi, Central leader of Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party (STPP) Ali Muhammad Lashari, president Citizens Alliance Akbar Abro, General Secretary NLF Sindh Syed Nizamuddin Shah, Chairman Labor Citizen Alliance Haji Ghulam Nabi Rind and others. APDM leader Assadullah Bhutto termed the 100 days of PPP government a complete failure. He bitterly criticized the decision of PPP government about handing over Thar Coal Authority to the Centre. He said that it was a betrayal to the mandate of citizens of Sindh. Expressing his concern, Bhutto said that it was sheer injustice with the people of Sindh to hand over Thar coal to the Federal Government.
Bhutto said that by present surge inflation, unemployment and lawlessness were the telltale signs of another martial law in Pakistan. He also criticized PML-N policies, saying it seemed not sincere in the restoration of judges. He also expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of home department and police, saying the government was trying to rule through police. He regretted that innocent people were being arrested but the culprits of May 12 were roaming freely. He further said that there was need to create awareness among the masses for their rights, adding that APDM was striving for the rights of common masses. Assudullah Bhutto said that APDM has convened a meeting on 28th July in Islamabad, which would decide about launching a campaign against the anti-people policies of the present government. STPP leader Ali Muhammad Lashari said that though the PPP was a democratic party but its policies were in contradictions to its electoral slogans and manifesto. Talking about the lawlessness in Jacobabad, he said that there was no writ of government in the area, adding that many people had been kidnapped but police had failed to recover them. He said some kidnapped persons had bought their freedom after paying ransom. He further said that all the problems could be solved by a system change, adding the system could only be changed through a revolution, which needs a long struggle. President Citizens Alliance Akbar Abro criticized the PPP government. He said it was first elected governmen, which had lost the confidence of its voters so rapidly. He also criticized President Pervez Musharaf for creating social, economic and legal chaos in Pakistan. Provincial Vice President of Tehrik Insaf Haji Azizullah Brohi said the PPP government was following the policies of Musharaf, adding that country was passing through crucial conditions because government was lest interested in solving the problems of masses. They demanded of the government to accept the authority Sindh province over Thar coal.—PPI
