KARACHI: Prominent social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi has disclosed that Mullah Umar is his friend and he wished to meet the Taliban leader.
Edhi revealed that Mullah Umar has taught in New Town seminary in Karachi for three years and he had also arranged marriages of orphan girls.
Earlier, Abdul Sattar Edhi was stopped by the administration while he was traveling to Hangu from Kohat. Edhi wanted to go to Hangu for his begging campaign but the DCO Hangu disallowed him to go there due to the worsening situation of the area.
Talking to a private TV Channel (ARY One World), the social worker said he had visited Lebanon, Afghanistan and Iraq even in the war situations but he was not stopped. “I am shocked as the administration of my country has stopped me,” he said. He said that he was stopped about 10 kilometers’ distance from Hangu and now he is going back to Peshawar but no high up has contacted with him.
