PTCL workers announce countrywide strike today

KARACHI: Ziauddin, Central President PTCL Pak Telecom Employees Union (CBA), has announced countrywide strike at PTCL offices on Thursday if their demands including giving old basic pay scale (BPS) to PTCL employees were not met.
Addressing a press conference flanked by the organization’s vice presidents Javed Siddiqui and Muhammad Iqbal, the general secretary Zahid Ahmed and the organization’s Karachi leaders Tariq Aziz Baloch and Mahboob Akhtar at PTCL Headquarters I I Chundrigar Road on Wednesday, he said that after being disappointed by the government of Pakistan, they have decided to observe the countrywide strike at PTCL headquarters and offices on Thursday to press their demands.
He also announced to take out a protest rally on I I Chundrigar Road on Thursday in this connection. He said that all employees of PTCL had unanimously rejected Unified Pay Scale (UPS) announced by Etisalat. He demanded Basic Pay Scale (BPS) including conveyance allowance, medical allowance and house requisition for the PTCL employees.
