TANDO JAM: The media coverage to so called sit-in
by 50 to 60 employees of SAU Tandojam has harmed
the credibility of the university, which has
also resulted in national academic loss. The
allegations, which are repeated every 5th month
in the history of this university, are totally
baseless and are harming the image of university.
One may wonder, if the university administration
is corrupt then why in last four years the strikes
were called. It is now crystal clear that some
external elements are trying to harm university
by making its atmosphere deteriorating.
It is fact that all the grievances of the employees
have been solved. It is unfortunate that some
disgruntled elements, who are enemies of education,
are damaging the reputation of the Institute.
As their allegations about involvement of the
authorities in corruption are baseless that
the university which was running in deficit
to tune of Rs. 63.7 million rupees in year 2004
has been saved from the deficit through the
prudent policies regarding fiscal management
under the dynamic leadership of the incumbent
Vice Chancellor.
During his tenure the sense of direction was
provided to University for next 20-25 years
through strategic vision document. As such the
university was awarded a mega project and also
other research and development projects for
its accomplishment. This has raised the standard
of education and research in the university.
In addition revision of curricula, making it
more skilled and job oriented has been embarked
upon. A part from that, additional facilities
at the campus have also been provided during
last 4 years, which include: Class Rooms equipped
with multimedia projectors, well equipped laboratories
for conduct of practical classes and research
work, central and Seminar libraries with latest
books and journals, Digital library with access
to over 70,000 books and journals, campus wide
Networking for internet and intranet, video
conferencing facility, well furnished auditoria
and conference rooms for seminars and curricular
activities, separate hostels renovated for boys
and girls, directorate of Sports and physical
health facilities, and round the clock medical
emergency facility.
After retirement of quite a few Ph.D teachers
the university is vigorously pursuing human
resource development program not only to fill
the gap but also enhance Ph.D. faculty to the
university needs. Accordingly, new staff recruitments
are done regularly to maintain the faculty strength
as per university requirements. Besides, 38
faculty members have been awarded Ph.D scholarships
under various programs of HEC and 24 of them
have already been pursuing their degrees in
different developed countries, whereas 14 are
in the process of leaving the country in next
two months, still 17 more shall be joining them
until June 2009.
We at SAU hope that in light of facts well wishers
of education in Sindh and the civil society
including electronic and print media should
discourage such elements who are hell bent upon
to destroy the educational edifice of Sindh.
If such elements are let loose that will uproot
the foundations of the education and harm the
national institute to its irreversible extent.
