ISLAMABAD: Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme
(BISP) , Madame Farzana Raja said on Monday that disbursement
of amount Rs 3.82 Billion would start amongst the Internally
Displaced Persons (IDPs) of Swat and Malakand would start
from the first week of December.
Madame Farzana Raja said that an agreement had been signed
with United Bank Limited (UBL) to facilitate over 318,000
families of Swat and Malakand through visa cards. “The
process for issuance of visa cards to the IDPs of Swat and
Malakand will be initiated in the first week of December”,
she said.
Madame Farzana Raja said that five service centres had been
established at Timergara, Mingora, Shangla, Batakhel and
Peshawar for distribution of visa cards and giving guidelines
for proper use of these cards. In addition, 100 franchises
would also be established in the Malakand division for payment
through the visa cards. An initial payment of Rs 6,000 will
be made from the franchise and then each of the families
will get payment of Rs 1,000 through these cards on monthly
basis.
She said that the ‘National Poverty Survey’
under the BISP would start by the end of December to ascertain
poverty percentage in the country and enhance living standard
of poor alleviating poverty. The pilot project of the poverty
survey has already been completed in 15 districts of all
four provinces including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Northern
Areas.
The districts where survey has been completed include Musakhel,Kila
Saifullah and Kech/Turbat of Balochistan, Lakki Marwat,
Karak and Batgram of NWFP, Layyah, Mianwali, Multan, and
Pakpatan of Punjab, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, and Tharparkar
of Sindh, Poonch of AJK, Ghanchae and Diamir districts of
Northern Areas. |
