MEHRABPUR: MS Rural Health Centre Mehrabpur,
Dr. M. Shafi while talking to RT said that a
three day Anti-polio campaign will start in
the district from 22-08-2008(today). In this
connection he added that 96teams and 30 centers
have been formed, which will inhale polio drops
to children from 1 to 5years. Dr. Shafi added
that about 30550 children will be inhaled polio
drops in Mehrabpur.
Mehrabpur observes Yaum-e-Ashur with peace
like other parts of the country, Yaum-e-Ashur,
the 10th day of Muharram, was also observed
with peace, reverence and solemnity in Mehrabpur.
The day is observed to commemorate the supreme
sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA)
and his 72 companions at Karbala to uphold the
truth.
The security was put on high alert and troops
were deployed along all the routes of the processions
and venues of Majaalis to plug chances of any
untoward incident.
The provincial government kept a strict vigilance
on the elements propagating sectarian hatred
and for this purpose, security cameras were
installed.
In the mourning processions, the Zakireen and
religious scholars highlighted the significance
of the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain
(RA) and his companions, who laid down their
lives for the supremacy of justice and righteousness.
The police had made elaborate security arrangements
to check any sort of untoward incident during
Majalis-e-Aza, `Alam’ and `Tazia’
processions.
Punjab Health Department, City District Government
and Rescue 1122 emergency made their services
available for the processionists.
All shops, hotels and houses located on traditional
routes of the procession were sealed to ensure
safe passage of the procession. All roads, side-lanes
and streets leading to the main routes of the
procession had also been closed and sealed by
putting trucks and erecting tents and barricades
on their entry points to ensure prevention of
entry of any irrelevant person or miscreant
in the procession.
