KARACHI: City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal has started surprise
visits and inspection of development projects to check the
pace and quality of the ongoing works in the city. A strict
action will be taken against the construction company and
concerned officer on negligence and carelessness in execution
of the work.
On Monday, the City Nazim inspected the work of the Banaras
Chowk Flyover during an unscheduled visit, where he inquired
about the work in progress. He also directed the concerned
officers to accelerate the pace of work on this project
so that the bridge can be completed on time. He said that
the city government has completed over 60 percent of the
development work of the Banaras Chowk Flyover and the project
is expected to be opened for traffic within the next 4 months.
This may be noted that the design of the Banaras Chowk Flyover
has been altered by the city government to provide more
convenience to the people.
The City District Government Karachi is constructing this
flyover with a cost of Rs1150 million and already 60 percent
of development work has been completed.
The flyover at the Banaras Chowk will have a total length
of 1.5km from the Metro Cinema to the Peerabad Police Station,
while it will have 24 metres width with 8.2 metres space
in the middle for the proposed Bus Rapid System. The City
Government will construct the road beneath the bridge.
