KARACHI: Former Sindh Governor and a key figure
in the post October 12, 1999 takeover by President
Pervez Musharraf, Lt General (Rtd) Moinuddin
Haider has said that the President is still
in place and that he expects him to continue
to serve the people for the complete five years
of his term.”
He said this while talking to The Regional Times
on Thursday and added that in the near future
circumstances do not indicate that President
Musharraf will quit.
When asked to comment about the present political
situation of the country, he said that everything
is visible and nothing is hidden as the situation
is not good and political parties have to play
their due role for making the country stable
once again.
About the recent talks held between coalition
leaders, he said that the process of dialogue
is a good omen and that he had also learnt that
PPP Co-Chairman, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari is about
to announce a relief package for poor people.
The former Federal Interior Minister also said
that it is being reported that the stock exchange
was also being strengthened and that the United
States is planning on increasing assistance
to the country after Prime Minister Yousuf Raza
Gillani visit to the US.
He also expressed his concern over the worsening
law & order situation in Sindh and said
it is very concerning and that the murder of
Khalid Shahenshah was a result of a target killing.
The former Governor said that during his period
as Governor, the law & order situation was
far better than today and commented that the
situation in Balochistan was also very alarming.
