ISLAMABAD: Ulema Action Committee (UAC) has called upon the government to constitute an independent inquiry commission to identify all the culprits besides President Musharraf and award punishment to them for participating in operation silence against innocent students of Jamia Hafsa and Lal Masjid.
The demand was made by chairman UAC Maulana Abdul Rauf Farooqi and Naib Khateen of Lal Majid Maulana Aamir Siddique while addressing a press conference along with other religious leaders here Thursday.
They called for immediate release of Maulana Abdul Aziz , his restoration to the position of Khateen of Lal Masjid, withdrawal of cases against all detained students besides payment of “deet” to the family members of the victims of operation silence.
They announced to pitch tents at Jamia Hafsa site today after Jumma prayers to continue educational activities of students of Jamia.
They regretted that PML-N had won the election in the name of Lal Masjid but its performance remained disappointing on Lal Masjid issue.—Online
