President
vows to continue playing his constitutional role
ISLAMABAD: President Pervez Musharraf has reiterated
his commitment that he would continue to play
his constitutional role as head of the state
because he intends to see strong Parliament
and stable democracy in the country.
He said this while talking to Opposition leader
in the National Assembly Chaudhry Pervez Elahi,
President Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) Chaudhry
Shujat Hussain and Governor Sindh Ishrat-ul-Ibad
in the Presidential Camp Office Rawalpindi on
Thursday.
The President made it clear that government
will have to win people’s confidence to
cope crises being faced the country. He asked
government to take concrete steps to arrest
inflation and ensure political stability in
the country.
President Pervez Musharraf went on to say that
government should devise clear strategy to cope
challenges and he is ready to collaborate in
this respect. Local bodies system was enforced
around the country in accordance with the constitutional,
he said while asking everyone to work for its
stability. Earlier, Chaudhry brothers apprised
the President about the conspiracies being hitched
against local bodies and cases registered against
Nazim by Punjab Government, sources said.
Governor Sindh Ishrat-ul-Ibad informed the President
about ongoing development schemes, law and order
situation in Sindh. Over political situation
and performance of government was also discussed
during the meeting.—Agencies
