SUKKUR: A protest rally was taken out by the
growers against irrigation water shortage in
Ghotki Feeder Canal on Thursday. The rally started
from Ghotki Bus Stop and after marching through
various routes reached at the Area Water Board
Office Ghotki, where the protestors surrounded
the office.
The protestors including, Sher Ali Mahar, Qaim
Chachar, Rafiq Ahmed, Allah Bux Mahar and others
while talking to newsmen condemned the decision
of the Provincial Minister, Jam Saifullah Dharejo
to hand over Ghotki Feeder Canal to the Irrigation
Department Guddu. They added that the feeder
canal provides irrigation water to 94 branches
but due to alleged negligence of the Irrigation
Department authorities, sufficient water has
not been released to the feeder canal and as
a result their lands have become barren.
On the occasion, they demanded of the high-ups
to take immediate measures in the matter, otherwise
they have threatened to gear-up their protest
level.
House looted in broad daylight, affected persons
record protest
Three unidentified armed men looted a house
in broad daylight on Thursday at Bagh-e-Hayat
in the jurisdiction of the A-Section Police
Station.
According to the details, three unidentified
armed men forcibly entered in the house of Muhammad
Akhtar and after making his family members hostage,
looted cash, jewelry and other valuables from
the house. The robbers after committing the
crime managed to flee away from the scene.
Later, the residents of the area recorded a
protest demonstration against the robbery incident
and demanded of the authorities to take action
for arrest the culprits, otherwise they have
threatened to accelerate their protest.
Adhoc lecturers
continue their protest for regularization
The adhoc lecturers continued their protest
for their regularization on Thursday outside
the Press Club Sukkrur.
Addressing on the occasion, the speakers including,
Zaheer Abbas, Ahmed Ali, Muhammad Zangejo and
others said that they are protesting from several
days but despite of that the authorities have
not taken any step in the matter. On the occasion,
they demanded of the Sindh Government to regularize
all adhoc lecturers, otherwise they have threatened
to extend their protest.
