Rs500mn
to be spent
on uplift of coastal areas

THATTA: An amount of Rs500million would be spent to develop the coastal areas of districts Thatta and Badin and to provide their residents potable water and revive the mangroves forests in the delta area.
This was apprised the by Director General Coastal Development Authority to a meeting of elected representatives here on Thursday.
The meeting was attended by Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, Sindh Ministers Abdul Jalil Memon and Sassui Peleijo, MNA Dr Abdul Wahid Soomro, MPA Humaira Alwani, Usman Jalbani, Nawaz Ali Chandio and others.
The meeting was apprised that Rs200 million would be provided by the Sindh government while multinational donors and agencies would provide remaining Rs300million.
The meeting’s participants stressed the need to initiate probe into alleged corruption of the previous rulers, who they alleged misappropriated billions of rupees in the name of development of coastal areas.

Sub-Engineer looted
Few unidentified men forcibly entered in the house of a Sub-Engineer namely, Asad Qureshi and at gunpoint looted cash, jewelry and other valuables on Thursday night.
The robbers managed to flee from the scene. No case of the incident was lodged till filling f this news.
