Ahsan for comprehensive national strategy to deal with terrorism
ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister and leader
of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Ahsan Iqbal has
said that a comprehensive national strategy
should be evolved to deal with menace of terrorism.
Talking to a private TV channel, the PMLN leader
said the country should have a comprehensive
national strategy through a debate in the parliament
to deal with terrorism. “We must have
a debate how to deal with the issue of terrorism
because the policy which has been followed so
far has not much contained terrorism”,
he added. He suggested that government should
immediately hold debate in the National Assembly
to develop consensuses to fight terrorism. He
expressed the hope that a comprehensive strategy
against terrorism will soon be brought in the
parliament for debate.
Ahsan Iqbal further said comprehensive and complete
strategy is required using all political, social
and economics aspects to deal with terrorism,
adding “the military option should be
the last option to deal with terrorism”.
“We should change the policy of pervious
government where people in the parliament were
unaware of the fact that what is happening in
the country,” he added. To a question
he said present government has inherited a bankrupt
economy.
