KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister,
Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that the present government
is implementing the program of Roti, Kapra aur Mukan of
Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto to provide shelter to the homeless
people.
In this regard, the poor families would be provided houses
under the ‘Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Housing Program
for poors’ in various cities of the province. While
chairing an important meeting in this regard, the Chief
Minister said that at least 10,000 people would get the
facility under this program this year. He said that these
houses would be provided to the poor, low income and particularly
low- paid employees.
In a detail briefing on the occasion, the Provincial Minister
for Housing, Agha Taimur and Special Assistant to CM, Zia-ul-Islam
informed that the Speaker of the National Assembly, Fehmida
Mirza will inaugurate first “Sister Benazir Basti”
on December 1 while construction of houses for 125 families
would soon be started in Garhi Khuda Bux and in Dah Janoi
Sukkur, Deh Nagan Karachi, Deh Luqman, Khairpur, Deh Rerhi
(Karachi). Besides, the houses constructed in village Jaffer
Jamali (Thatta), Jungshahi (Thatta) under the UN Development
program would be handed over to the concerned families while
the SRSO houses constructed in Khairpur, Jacobabad, Shikarpur
and Sukkur would also be handed over.
The Chief Minister was informed that in Khairpur, 84 acres
of land out of a total of 194 acres is being prepared in
the first phase for which the consultants have prepared
a Master Plan and a boundary wall would be constructed to
protect the land from encroachment. The meeting was also
attended by Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman, ACS (Development)
Munawar Opel, the Provincial Secretary Finance, Senior Member
of the Board of Revenue, Member (LU) BoR and others.—RT
