ISLAMABAD: The law enforcing
agencies have declared 42 districts all over the country
as highly sensitive on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.
Interior ministry has directed all the four provincial governments
and district governments to remain vigilant for maintaining
law and order situation. On the directives of the interior
ministry, the district governments in collaboration with
the police authorities have evolved security plans. 42 districts
and 90 cities of the country have been declared sensitive.
They include 11 districts of NWFP, 16 of Punjab, 8 of Sindh
and 7 of Balochistan.
The police have been directed to ensure holding of Eid congregations
within boundary walls rather than in open grounds in consultation
with the local Ulema and Nazims. These directives have been
issued on the information that the workers of banned outfits
and the terrorists fleeing from South Waziristan can target
Eid congregations. Holidays in respect of police personnel
have been cancelled.
NWFP districts which have been declared sensitive are Peshawar,
Charsadda, Bannu, Mardan, Nowshehra, Abbottabad, Risalpur,
Dera Ismail Khan, Kohat, Hungu and Kamra Cantt. The sensitive
districts of Sindh are Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Nowshero
Feroze, Ghotki, Mir Pur Khas, Tando Adam and Jacob Abad.
The districts including Quetta, Dera Murad Jamali, Nasir
Abad, Sui, Kohlu, Kharan and Dera Bugti have been declared
sensitive in Balochistan. Districts which have been declared
sensitive in Punjab are Lahore, Rawalpindi, Jhang, Sheikhupura,
Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Khanewal, Gujarat, Jhelum,
Gujranwala, Sargodha, Mianwali, D.G Khan and Rajan Pur.—Agencies
