Musharraf
not acceptable in uniform: Raja Pervez Ashraf
By Altaf Abbasi
ISLAMABAD: PPP-P general secretary Raja Pervez
Ashraf has said general Pervez Musharraf is
not acceptable as uniformed president adding
uniform is negation of democracy.
He said this while addressing a press conference
here Tuesday. He held people of Pakistan love
democracy and they want democracy in the country.
President Musharraf will not be accepted in
uniform.
He underscored that Benazir Bhutto interview
with certain European newspapers has been presented
out of context. The reports on deal are sheer
assumptions, he said adding government is on
the forefront in launching propaganda blitz
against PPP.
PPP wants transparent elections, he underscored.
The country will land in crisis if it is not
done so, he cautioned. As per survey conducted
by International Republican Institute (IRI),
Benazir Bhutto is the most popular leader in
Pakistan. General Pervez Musharraf is rated
at No 2 and Nawaz Sharif stands next to general
Musharraf at popularity index. Survey has proved
PPP is popular party and it has roots in masses,
he claimed. PPP will express solidarity with
chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry today
in front of Supreme Court building, he told.
We will welcome him in Lahore too, he added.
