166 out of 576 closed schools opened in Umerkot district

UMERKOT: Incharge, Chief Minister’s Monitoring Committee, District Umerkot, Mohammad Saleem Nohri, has said that the root cause of education’s destruction in the district was recruitment of teachers and officials on political basis.
He told the newsmen on Tuesday that during surprise visits to many schools across district, the Monitoring Committee suspended 11 teachers and opened 166 schools out of 576 closed schools over the last five months.
Mohammad Saleem said that number of primary, middle and high schools in district Umerkot is 2295 while the number of teachers is 3402. The number of students being imparted education in these schools is 132158 and the budget of the teachers and staff of these schools is Rs15 million, he said.
