SUKKUR: Upper Sindh is ringing with curse of
Karo-Kari for several reasons, as a Jirga in
this regard held here on Tuesday at Goth Bhar
in Rohri in the jurisdiction of Dabar Police
Station, but terminated without any conclusion,
because a group belonging to allegedly eight-year-old
boy declared Karo with six-year-old girl boycotted
the Jirga.
Reports said that relatives of Safia daughter
of Ahmed Halepoto declared Kari has broken arm
and leg of Sadam Hussain son of Jagan Halepoto
declared Karo by beating him with fists and
clubs; he has been admitted in Sukkur Civil
Hospital. Though, the incident has also been
brought in the notice of concerned police station.
The Jirga in this regard under leadership of
Sardar Laal Mohammad Panhwar held in which Jagan
Halepoto charged blame that his son has not
illicit relations with Safia, but he is declared
Karo merely to occupy his land on which another
group belonging to girl declared Kari said him
to swear in. Consequently, Jagan Halepoto left
the Jirga by saying that he has been targeted
twice, but Jirga does not pay any heed to them.
He demanded of high ups to take a legal action
against his opposite group and to rein the Jirga
holders.
ST and MQM demonstrate against each other
Workers of Muttahida Quami Movement and Suni
Tehreek are face to face at Sukkur Press Club,
where both of them have staged protest demonstration
against each other here on Tuesday. Workers
of Suni Tehreek raised full-throated slogans
against MQM and police. They had banners and
placards bearing slogans against MQM and government.
Though, Saeed Khoso, Ali Hasan, Qaderi Yousuf,
Saadi Rana and Shoib were heading protesting
Suni Tehreek Workers. Leaders said that C-Section
Police has implicated workers of their party
on the order of Muttahida Quami Movement in
bogus cases. They warned that they would launch
a massive drive against MQM, if their leaders
remain in police custody longer. On the other
hand, Muttahida Quami Movement led by Shakil
Abbasi, Mohammad Shahid Qureshi, Mohammad Naeem
Abbasi and Shaman Ali demonstrated at the press
club and chanted slogans against Suni Tehreek
and called them miscreants and anarchists. Leaders
said that some anarchists are spreading sectarianism
and are obstacle on the way of maintaining peace.
They called Sindh government to rein such harmful
elements by taking legal action against them.
May Day observed
at Sukkur
A rally was taken out by Pakistan Wapda Hydro
Electrical Central Labor Union chapter Sukkur
in connection with World Labor Day. Rally started
from Hira Medical Centre and culminated at Clock
House, which was participated by District Nazim
Sukkur, Syed Nasir Hussian Shah and laborers
of Ubarou, Daharki, Ghotki, Mirpur Mathelo,
Ranipur, Khairpur, Kotdeji and others. Addressing
to the gathering, Allahdad Mashori, Syed Zahid
Hussain Shah, Badur-ul-Islam Malik and others
paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Chicago
and said that laborers of Pakistan have been
laying their lives in poorness and they have
been allegedly deprived of their basic rights.
They demanded of the authorities to stop privatization
of important departments of the country and
laborers have been paid accordingly. On the
occasion, District Nazim Sukkur, Syed Nasir
Hussain Shah said that government has been striving
to upgrade the living standard of laborers and
scholarships have been given to children of
laborers. He announced to give a plot to Wapda
Union and also given 40 lac rupees. Meanwhile,
All Pakistan Trade Union Sukkur also took out
a rally to pay rich tributes to martyrs of Chicago,
which was led by Maula Bux Khaskheli, Moti Lal
and others.
MMA holds rally against poor law and order situation
A protest rally was taken out by MMA against
poor law and order situation of the region and
unannounced load shedding by Wapda. Rally was
led by Musharraf Mahmood Qadri, Maulana Ubedullah
Bhutto and others. Protestors chanted slogans
against Police. On the occasion, leaders alleged
that killings and snatchings has become order
of the day. People have been looted and killed
in broad daylight, but police allegedly have
not taken any step to control over rising crime
in the region. They further added that unannounced
load shedding has created many problems for
masses of the region. They have demanded of
the authorities to take step in this regard,
otherwise; they have threatened to enlarge their
level of protest.
Sukkur Police
impounds vehicles
for public rally
Sukkur Police have impounded over twenty vehicles
to accommodate many people for joining a public
rally holding on 5th May to be addressed by
President General Pervez Musharraf.
According to reports reaching here on Tuesday,
vehicles have been impounded from Bus Stand,
as a result, drivers stopped to set to the stand.
Transporters increased fare due to shortage
of vehicles. Though, impounding of vehicles
has started in Nawabshah, Jacobabad, Shikarpur,
Sanghar and Hyderabad.
