New party formed to protect rights of labourers

HYDERABAD: A new party of labourers belonging to government and private institutions has been designed, this was announced by labour leaders Taj Marri, Comrade Ahmed Khan Laghari and Comrade Mohammad Ramzan Hussain Nasir in a convention held here on Tuesday at Hyderabad Press Club in the wake of International Labour Day. The name of party is Inqlabi Jamhori Workers Committee and process of membership also started in the convention. Leaders said that prevailing parties have failed in addressing labourers, this is the reason, labourers despite of law are bound to do work for twelve hours. They called government to regularize labourers working on contract in government institutions.
Rallies taken out to pay tribute to Chicago martyrs
The mess of traffic in the City developed, leaving commuters inconvenient at stops and jamming vehicular traffic here on Tuesday, when rallies by different union and even political organizations were brought out from different Mohallas and streets and were set to Hyderabad Press Club to mark International Labour Day. Peoples Party Labour Bureau, Sindh Bar Council, Muttahida Labour Federation, Pakistan Workers Federation Hyderabad Chapter, Pakistan Railway Traffic Yard Staff Association, Green Rural Development Organization, SRTC Action Committee, All Pakistan Trade Union Organization and others rallied to pay tribute to Chicago martyrs, who had laid down their lives on the way to struggle was launched to reduce work hours from twelve to eight. Labour leaders came down on government and demanded of the government to do away with privatization of government institutions, to abolish Banking and presidential ordinances out rightly, to implement labour law and to equip labourers with Education and Medical facilities. They deplored that management of industries does not provide medical facilities to even those, who receive injuries during the work in the respective industries. MPA Zahid Bhurgari, Gul Hasan Kalhoro, Fazal Qadir Memon, Qamos Gul Khattak, Ghulam Hussain Lahoti, Ali Jokhio, Ghulam Mohammad Depar, Haji Amanullah and others addressed the rallies.

vehicles begins
Vehicles disappeared suddenly, leaving commuters to brave scorching heat on bus stops, as Hyderabad Police have started to impound vehicles in lager number to accommodate many people, who will join a public rally at Nao Kot holding on 5th May to be addressed by President Pervez Musharraf. Reports reaching here on Tuesday said that police pounced upon vehicles in the morning and impounded them, as a result, vehicle drivers stopped driving in order to avoid move of impounding. In mean time, owners and drivers of vehicles protested against the police, demanding release of impounded vehicles at different police stations. The stops that wore deserted look were Badin Stop, Hali Road Stop, Latifabad Stop, Guddu Chowk Stop, Qasim Chowk Stop, Bakra Mandi Stop and others. Sources said that taxi drivers taking benefit of situation increased fair, which added miseries to commuters. Police sources said that they are ordered to impound vehicles, so they have done nothing, but have obeyed the order.
PHCD&EB arranges meeting
Pakistan Heart Culture Development and Export Board held an important meeting here on Tuesday in the office of Director General in order to review problems and also progress related to crops especially mango. Mohammad Iqbal presided over the meeting. Though, on the part of growers, Syed Nadim Shah, Imtiaz Ahmed and were present in the meeting and Fahim-u-Rahman, Sartaj Tunio also attended the meeting. The meeting aimed at marketizing Mango and to review problems on the way to marketizing it.
