IG Sindh approves
Rs 2m for maintenance of SRP’s 56 vehicles

KARACHI: The DIG, Sindh Reserve Police (SRP)
Ghulam Asghar Sheikh has said that IG Sindh
has approved more than Rs.2 million for maintenance
work on SRP’s 56 vehicles including troop
career buses, trucks, water tanks and police
mobiles. He said that due to the dilapidated
condition of vehicles the department requested
IG Sindh to provide fund to repair the vehicles,
as SRP could discharge its duty in an effective
manner. DIG said that SRP’s mechanical
staff had started repairing vehicles at its
workshop and 10 vehicles had been repaired so
far, which were now in running conditions. Lauding
the role of SRP’s mechanical staff, he
said the staff had posed their excellence skill
regarding maintenance of vehicles within the
cost 50 per cent less than market rate. He expressed
his hoped that repairing work on other remaining
vehicles would soon be completed. He said that
SRP was discharging its security duty across
Sindh and now, he added, their performance would
increase with transport facility. He said that
all necessary resources were being provided
to SRP in order to enhance its performance making
it more functional and effective. He disclosed
that he had also formed a committee to supervise
the maintenance work.
