Independence of judiciary, strengthening of courts must for
dispensation of justice: EX-CJP

KARACHI: Former Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice
(Retd) Nazim Siddiqui has said that strengthening
of courts and independence of judiciary were
necessary for dispensation of justice in the
country.
Addressing a seminar on “Role of Lawyers
in Civil Society” organised by Legal Aid,
Human Rights and Rescue Organisation Pakistan
here at a local hotel on Tuesday, he urged the
lawyers to play their role in fulfilling the
legal requirements. “The lawyers must
assist the Supreme Court to decide the matters
pertaining to Supreme Judicial Council on merits
so that justice could be done,” he stressed.
He said that all of us must restrain from such
activities that defame the superior judiciary
and must honor the court. Regarding the SJC
constitution, he said it was according to legal
requisites. He urged all political parties not
to give the prevailing judicial situation a
political shape and keep politics away from
the matter. Provincial Minister for Law, Chaudhry
Iftikhar, Additional Advocate General Hyderabad,
Masood Noorani, Additional Advocate General
Sindh Qazi Khalid, Barrister Shahida Jamil and
others also spoke on the occasion.
