Kamal
By Staff Reporter
Karachi: City Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal
has said that the citizens of Karachi would
get a big good news in the next few days as
they have got more for the city than what had
been achieved in 59 years, our works are for
the next 40 years, before us there was a custom
in Karachi Water and Sewerage Board to just
overlook the broken lines of water and sewerage
while today in almost every area changing and
repairing work of water and sewerage lines is
being carried out. For the first time in its
history, The KW&SB has initiated changing
of lines on such a large scale and all credit
for this goes to MD, KW&SB Brigadier Iftikhar
Haider.
This he was stated while addressing a ceremony
held by KW&SB Officers & Engineer’s
Association as farewell and welcome to the outgoing
and new Managing Director at COD Filter Plant
on Monday Night.
Additional Vice chairman KW&SB Imam uddin
Shehzad, Muhammad Naeem Khan, officers, engineers,
contractors, consultants of Karachi Water and
Sewerage Board along with large number of representatives
from NGO’s were present on this occasion
while besides the president officers and engineers
association KW&SB Misbahuddin Farid, outgoing
MD Brig. Iftikhar Haider and New MD Ghulam Arif
also addressed the ceremony. Nazim Karachi agreed
that it was due to the efforts of MD Water Board,
who remained himself supervised the work while
stayed on the roads, that the culture of working
among the officers and staff had been flourished
and it was a new thing in KW&SB as now they
could proudly introduce them as employees of
the KW&SB.
He noted that earlier the citizens of Karachi
might had not seen any XEN of Water and Sewerage
board but today from chief engineer to MD everyone
supervises the projects while remained on the
roads. “The citizens of Karachi benefited
from this while at the same time the ability
of performing works worth Rs.16 billion was
also proved by the officers and engineers of
Karachi water and sewerage board that was until
now been daubted.” he added. “Had
Brig. Iftikhar not implemented the policies
with hard work, zeal and enthusiasm then today
we might not had been able to assert that we
could complete mega projects within few moths
or could embarked on the fastest development
work in the world.” he admitted.
He said that the citizens of Karachi would remember
the works carried out by us till 40 years as
I was fortunate to have a MD like Brig. Iftikhar
Haider just after taking oath, who had not only
harmonized with our policies but also ensured
their implementation in time.
