Wages, pensions, salaries of workers and govt employees to be raised in next fiscal budget: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said minimum wages of workers, pension and salaries of government employees will be enhanced in the next fiscal budget. He made this announcement while addressing the labourers on the occasion of May Day in Prime Minister House here on Tuesday. He held that the next fiscal budget will be workers friendly and people friendly. As country’s economy is robust, therefore, we are passing on its benefit to the people. The minimum wages of the workers, pension and salaries of the government employees will be increased in the upcoming budget. He went on to say that the apprehensions of the labourers on IRO law will be removed with mutual understanding. The labourers have always worked for the development of the country and in the national interest. “We can not overlook this role of the laborers”, he added. “We should not succumb to any sense of deprivation. We are second to none. We should work with good intent and spirit”, he remarked. He went on to say there is lack of skilled labour in the field of construction when the country is on the track to rapid development. “We have launched a program to increase the number of skilled persons. Internship program has also been started for educated unemployed youths. He underlined the coalition government was working for the uplift of the labourers. “We are making progress in all areas of activities. We will get bumper crop of wheat as we have allowed subsidy on fertilizers. Water availability in the dams is six time higher than the last year. Pakistan is only nuclear power in the Muslim world, he said adding “ we are playing leadership role in the development of Muslim world. Earlier, the labourers were getting wages Rs 1500 per month and now it has been raised to Rs 4000. “We believe in practice rather than precept. We have done our job practically. We don’t believe in sloganeering. The national kitty is filled and its fruits are trickling down to the masses. Prime Minister announced scholarship scheme for the children of laborers. Government will incur all the educational expenses of the children of labourers who get admission into institutions of higher education. Minister for labor and manpower Ghulam Sarwar Khan alleged opposition had never supported the laborers.
